44. NIKE Poster Cards Type 3 290980 - 290989

The Type 3 grouping 290980 - 290989 includes the Nolan Ryan posters "Super Nolan" and "Doesn't Give Up', Bo Jacksons "It's Not Over" and "I'm Back" as well as Barkley, Strawberry, Barry Sanders and others.










290980  Fined  (Barkley)  1991

Another of the Mr Robinsons Neighborhood posters.

290981  Katrin Krabbe    1991            NO NPC KNOWN FOR THIS POSTER

In 1992 when Germany's Katrin Krabbe, the world 100 and 200 meters champion, tested positive for steroids Nike continued to support her financially before she was eventually banned for four years. She is listed as 290981 but we have never seen her poster card. 




290982 Double Vision  (Leach & Pugh)  1991

Tennis anyone ? Leach and Pugh won the doubles in the 1990 US Open.




290983  Barry Sanders  1991

 The Detroit Lions selected Sanders with the 3rd overall pick in the 1989 Draft and won the rookie of the year award .  He was a member of the 1991 and 1993 squads that won the NFC Central division title; the 1991 team won 12 regular season games (a franchise record).




290984 Super Nolan (Ryan)  1991

Cartoon Nolan Ryan. 





290985 Coast to Coast (Strawberry)  1991

In 1990, Strawberry hit 37 home runs, while driving in 108 runs and batting for a .277 average for the Mets. Strawberry signed as a free agent with the Los Angeles Dodgers in November1990. In 1991 he hit  28 home runs and drove in 99.






290986  Jake  (P. Jacobson)  1991 NO NPC KNOWN FOR THIS POSTER

 Peter Jacobsen "Jake and the Flagman" poster featuring Peter and his Caddy Mike "Fluff" Cowan, who caddied for Peter and then became Tiger's first caddie when he turned pro. It is listed in the Feb 1992 order form. Do not have a picture of he poster . Never seen the poster card.



290987  It's Not Over  (Jackson)  1991

Trying to recover from his football hip injury, Jackson Moved to the White Sox in 1991. The poster is  dated 1991 in the lower corner of the poster. 







290988 I'm Back   (Jackson)  1991

Unwilling to pay his  salary in 1991 to rehabilitate his football injury, the Royals released Jackson on March 1991. The Chicago White Sox offered him a three-year deal.  Jackson played two seasons appearing in 23 games in 1991 and 85 games in 1993. He may have been back but he was never the same again.





290989  Doesn't Give Up  (Ryan)  1991

Ryan left Houston after a contract dispute following the 1988 season and signed with the Texas Rangers at age 42. In 1990, Ryan threw his sixth no-hitter and earned his 300th win.  In 1991, at age 44, Ryan threw the seventh no-hitter of his career.
