11 NIKE Poster Cards Type 1 290231 - 290235

The group 290231 - 290235 includes HOF pitcher Gaylord Perry, soccer player Steve Zungul,. Stormin' Norman Nixon riding a lightning bolt, Bobby Jones, and a compilation of 6 basketball players called Air Force 1.

290231 K-Lord         1982/83     (1986)

Gaylord Perry was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1991. The K-Lord poster card was dated 1986 by the 1994 Upper Deck/Nike set. We are sure that this was the second variation printing. Why ? Because he retired in 1983. Likely this card was issued after the 1982 season when he was with the Mariners (shown on his cap) and when he won his 300 game and surpassed 3000 SO which insured his hall of fame induction.

290232    Zungul   1982/83

Steve Zungul the soccer player is another poster card that is seldom seen. Since he is bookended by K-Lord and Air Force 1, both 1982/83 issues, we can date this poster card as 1982

290233    Stormin' Norman  1982/83

Riding a lightning bolt is certainly a unique poster for the Lakers Norm Nixon. Since he is bookended by K-Lord and Air Force 1, both 1982 issues we can date this poster card as 1982 . This makes sense since he played for the Lakers for six successful seasons and helped the Lakers win NBA championships in 1980 and 1982.

290234   Secretary of Defense   1982/83

Bobby Jones, in suit, tie and Nike swosh sneakers as the Sect of Defense. He played for the Philadelphia 76'ers for six successful seasons as their "6th man" helped the 76'ers to the NBA finals  in 1980 and 1982, both against the Philadelphia 76ers.  Since he is bookended by K-Lord and Air Force 1, both 1982 issues we can date this poster card as 1982 .

2909235  Air Force 1      1982/83

Air Force 1 featured (L to R) Michael Cooper, Moses Malone, Calvin Natt, Jamaal Wilkes, Bobby Jones and Mychal ThompsonNike celebrated the 25th anniversary of Air Force 1 in 2007 thus making the poster pub date 1982 like all of those before it.
